Native American Project & Book Project

During the 2006-2007 school year students completed two very impressive class projects. I have included the PDF versions of the class assignments.

Native American Project.

The objective of this project is for students to complete an investigation of one tribe in one of the eight regions of North America. One of the most important aspects of this project is to learn how geography affected the customs of Native American cultures. Another important aspect of the project is to learn how the indigenous cultures of North America adapted to their environment. Also to learn how history affected their culture and their present state of being. This assignment is a preparation for the upcoming iSearch Project. We are still using the 500 Nations video series to illustrate some of the history of indigenous cultures of the Americas and the hardships they endured.

We also used our Social Studies text books from TCI to continue learning about native american cultures of North America.

Book Project

I have done this project before in my classes and found it to be a huge success, but I would suggest that you scaffold writing activities to ensure a succesful final product. It is an autobiography of the student's life and the event they are writing about are taken from the Lifeline Project. Some of the books I received were IMPRESSIVE!! I was very happy with the level of commitment and dedication students had towards this amazing project.
